Thank you for all you help and advice during the antenatal classes; we both really benefited from them, they were so informative and we felt really relaxed during the sessions which made it easy to take in the information. Alfie especially found them useful as he gained knowledge to help him understand and recognise the stages of labour during the birth, meaning he could help me to cope and stay focused.”

“Just wanted to say thank you so much, we really enjoyed the course and found it so helpful. We will miss not coming anymore!”

A 6 week course to prepare you for the birth of your baby and support for early parenting.

Learn how to prepare your body to give birth, what to expect, and what to do if things don’t go according to plan.

This course will give you a deep and thorough understanding of pregnancy, birth and early parenting.

Ideal for birth partners to attend, (though you are of course just as welcome to attend on your own,) to learn how they can support you, and how they can keep calm and be the best possible support during labour and beyond. We will also explore how your relationship will develop and change with the addition of a new member of the family.

Understand your baby’s development and how to care for them (and yourself) after their arrival.

Make friends with other couples at the same stage as you.

Suitable from 24 weeks of pregnancy.

What the course covers:

  • Preparing our bodies for birth and getting baby into a good position;
  • Having a healthy mind and body;
  • Understanding the hormones involved in labour and birth, and how you can promote these in the most positive way;
  • All the different interventions and choices you might face during labour, including pain relief, induction, instrumental delivery, cesarean sections;
  • Breathing techniques to help you;
  • The early weeks with a new baby, including practical skills such as nappy changing, cord care, sleep;
  • Learn about the fourth trimester and postnatal recovery.

What does this offer in addition to the Essential Preparation for Birth Workshop?

The Essential Preparation for Birth Workshop is brilliant, but it packs a LOT of information into four hours. You will learn the essentials in the workshop, but what you gain in this course is the luxury of TIME.

  • Time to really absorb the information, reflect on it and ask questions as the weeks progress;
  • Time to get to know other couples and make new friends;
  • Time to learn more information and in more depth.

In addition, as part of the course you will also receive a free labour bag, containing everything you need to take to hospital with you.

Mental and Physical Preparation for Birth

This course is designed to complement the movement-based, women only, Practical Preparation for Birth course. We strongly believe that you need to practise the breathing and movement techniques we will teach you on the Ultimate Antenatal course. By practising, you will build muscle memory so that when labour begins, the relaxation, breathing and movement techniques will be so well embedded you won’t even have to think about it and everything will just flow…

Ideally, you could do the Ultimate course first and then move on with your new buddies to do the Practical Preparation for Birth course afterwards. If you have completed the Ultimate Antenatal course you will be eligible for a discount on the Practical Preparation for Birth Course.

The Best Teacher

The course is taught by Emily Boyd, a highly experienced antenatal educator. Emily is our Director of Antenatal Education and wrote the Essential Preparation for Birth Workshop, in addition to this course.

Praise for Emily:

“My favourite part was Emily. She was awesome and so fun. I have been to many classes and this was the first one that was so down to earth and realistic. I never even felt the time go in her class. My husband also enjoyed her class and took a lot of notes.”

“Emily was brilliant. We both really liked her. She was very personable and easy going. We felt comfortable and felt she was realistic with her explanations and advice.”

“Emily was hilarious and made what could have been very dry much more interesting!”
