Ipswich and Colchester Sling Library are a great resource for anyone interested in carrying your baby in a sling. The library volunteers and peer supporters will help guide you through the different options to find the one that is best for you and your family.

What happens at a sling library meet?

Monthly sling meets are open to all whether expecting a baby and looking in to your options, new to babywearing and looking for the right carrier for you and your baby or currently babywearing and looking to meet like minded people. Our meetings are very friendly and we pride ourselves in making you feel comfortable and at ease. You can pop in and chat to us, try different carriers, and hire a sling.

Come along for help and advice and see the carriers we have available to hire. Everyone welcome, just turn up!

Membership is £5 per year and the hire fees are £8 – £12 per month, depending on the carrier.

The Ipswich and Colchester sling library is a non profit organization with all money being used to run the sling library and provide all the best up to date carriers. We are run by volunteers and have 2 qualified Babywearing consultants and 4 very experienced peer supporters.

We look forward to seeing you!

About us

Ipswich and Colchester Sling Library was founded in March 2014 by Katherine.

Katherine has now completed a babywearing consultant course with Slingababy and offers 1 to 1 consultations as well as being present at monthly sling library meets. The rest of the team are qualified Peer Supporters and have a vast range of experience.

Through the Library we hope to be able to guide parents through the many options of baby carriers and slings available to find the one that best suits them and their family

Katherine has 3 children and has been babywearing since having her youngest child in 2012 though did try with a high street carrier several years earlier and is still carrying on a regular basis with woven wraps. Katherine has a vast knowledge of the carriers and slings available to buy and she is well equipped to aid with any babywearing query.

Lorna has two children and has been babywearing since her eldest, Ivy, was 5 months. She carried her second born, Fern, from birth and is still going. She has a range of knowledge across most slings and carriers.

Michelle has been part of the library since the beginning and has generously lent many of her personal slings and carriers for our members to use. She has been babywearing since Daniel was born prematurely nearly 5 years ago and now has a new wrapee Elliot. Michelle is an experienced user of woven wraps and carriers.

Katie is a newly qualified Peer supporter and an avid wrapper with her youngest child Ben, if you have a woven wrap question she is your lady ! Back carrying is her speciality. Katie also has two older children Evan and Emma who she carried using a range of carriers.

Hannah also a newly qualified peer supporter and has been babywearing for over a year now since Ella-Mae was tiny. She also has a keen interest in woven wraps and is all about the fabrics and colours.
