Free online antenatal classes

At Suffolk Babies we are specialists in preparing for birth. Through our unique partnership with the NHS thousands of women have been to antenatal classes with us and had positive birth experiences.

We have created the most comprehensive online antenatal course available, designed to help you prepare for labour, birth & parenthood your way in your own time.

To access our ten hour program you must become a Suffolk Babes member (join here).  You are free to join the program following your 20 week scan.

Birth partners are welcome to join the sessions, you only need to create one membership for you and your birth partner.

For those who would like to investigate hypnotherapy for birth Suffolk Babies provides a weekly session at 7.30pm on a Thursday evening (again the session is available as a recording for those that cannot log into the live session) to practice movement for pregnancy (to help reduce common pregnancy related symptoms such as swelling, lower back ache and to encourage your baby to move into a good position for labour and birth) and movement for labour and birth as well as more traditional hypnobirthing techniques, deep relaxation and breathing techniques.
A foundation to hypnotherapy for birth session is taught twice a month at 6.30pm on a Thursday or can be viewed as a recording before joining the 7.30pm weekly session.
We also provide a weekly Introduction to breastfeeding course delivered by our Infant feeding specialist midwife Dora.

How to access and use the sessions

  • Each of the ten topics covered are presented in one hour live and interactive sessions throughout the week (for session times see our calendar here) and delivered at least twice a month.
  • Sessions can be completed in any order and all sessions are available as recordings and accompanied by supporting downloadable handouts and follow up information.
  • You can log into as many live interactive sessions or watch as many pre-recorded sessions as you choose.
  • When you register you will be asked permissions to join a Suffolk Babies community whatsapp group – this is not obligatory but enables you to ask as many questions as you like – the groups are managed by our experienced antenatal teachers – as well as connect with other women to develop peer to peer support networks during your pregnancy.

Why join us

Every aspect of being a parent is about working as a team. Labour and birth are the first part of that journey. Every birthing mum needs the right support during their labour which is where the birth partner comes in!

Every birth partner feels nervous and uncertain about labour and birth, the same way that every woman feels unsure, the best way to deal with these apprehensions is to ensure that you are well informed and you know what you can do to be the best birth supporter possible for your partner on the big day.

“I attended the birthing class when I was pregnant with my second baby. I really enjoyed the class and it wasn’t too far for me to travel I don’t know of anything similar around here other than hypnobirthing. I know the birthing course does use parts of hypnobirthing byt I like that it’s also realistic and we’re allowed to openly discuss concerns and labour stories rather than being told not to listen to ‘negative’ things. I had an amazing second labour using techniques from the birthing class!”

“I fist found out about Suffolk Babies through my midwife when expecting our first baby. My husband and I went along to their free antenatal course, which for me personally I found so helpful and calming as the unknown approached. Then after our little girl was born we attended baby classes which were brilliant. So much so we’ve signed up for another 6 weeks. I think the instructors are great and the support they give to mums and expecting mums is amazing.”
